Arrows in Action Turn House of Independents Green for St. Patrick’s Day
Magnolia Park set off on their Baku’s Revenge tour on March 3rd, bringing Arrows In Action, First and Forever, and Poptropicaslutz! along. The tour will run a little over a month ending on April 1st. Our tour stop was at House of Independents in Asbury Park, NJ. It was also on St. Patrick’s Day, which made it even more fun! Most fans lined up down the street for the concert wearing green. Asbury was very busy with people walking all over to get to their St. Patrick’s Day destinations for the evening. The doors opened for the fans, the lights dimmed, and everyone got ready for the first band.
First and Forever
First and Forever opened for the night and are a pop-punk band that prides itself on making emo music. Check out their new single "i've got a bad feeling about this ..." which came out on February 21st. Their song "Sick Little Games" has over 3 million plays on Spotify! Their band stood out to me on stage. The frontman Alex Ryan was all over the stage, using his hands and leaning forward and backward to engage the crowd. While talking to the crowd, the band explained that they slept on Magnolia Park’s floor two years ago. It’s very inspirational how far they have come in such a short time. During the set, David could be seen banging away at the drums, Alex was almost pulled off stage, and Marcus’ guitar broke. That didn’t stop them from playing a fantastic set and opening things up for the rest of the bands! You can find their setlist from the show here.
Poptropicaslutz!
Poptropicaslutz! is a pop-punk band from New York with a twist. Christian Cicilia and Nick Crawford were seniors in high school getting ready to attend college when the pandemic hit. That’s when they decided to form their band, and I’m sure they are glad they did! They are living the dream, signed by Epitaph Records with over 250,000 monthly listeners. Their most recent single is Sierro Echo X-Ray which came out in the middle of January, accompanied by a music video. Last month, they also released an EP with some alternative versions of their song bittersweet teeth. During their set, they talked about how their song "something about the sky" came from a time when it was raining and they almost got in an accident. The last song they played was their most popular, which was "Hollywood High 16." They told the crowd they wanted them to sing it loudly with them. You can find the rest of their set from the show here.
Magnolia Park
Magnolia Park is a pop-punk band that formed in Florida in 2019. Their most recent album Baku’s Revenge, came out at the end of last year. They have almost a million monthly listeners, and their song "10 for 10" reached 8 million plays. They released a new song just two days before their concert, which was exciting! It’s called "Face Down," and they even released a lyric video on the same day. I listened to it so much within the two days I knew all the words before the concert, it was so catchy! The deluxe version of their album will be out on April 14th, just two days before my birthday; what a great present!
Don’t forget to pre-order their deluxe album! I attended the VIP experience, which included an impressive acoustic set by Magnolia Park before the show. Their frontman Joshua Roberts has a phenomenal voice and sang a few songs accompanied by the band with two acoustic guitars. They played two originals and one cover by Bring Me The Horizon. He explained the significance the band had on theirs and that it was a particular song to them that I happened to know and love called "Drown. During the set, Joshua was all over the stage during the set, which was very refreshing to see. At times he even could be seen pointing the microphone outwards so the crowd could help him sing the words. You can see their setlist from the show here.
Arrows In Action
Arrows In Action is a pop-rock band that was formed in 2015 in Florida. The band members are frontman Victor Viramontes-Pattison, guitarist Matthew Fowler, and drummer Jesse Frimmel. The band prides itself on being authentic and ensures its songs send a personal message about reflection. The band has amassed 700,000 monthly listeners on Spotify. Their top track, "Uncomfortably Numb," has over 12 million plays! The band’s official music video for their new song "The Credits" feat. Loveless & Magnolia Park came out a few weeks ago. The music video takes place with them in a movie theater performing and watching the screen with popcorn.
Magnolia Park even makes a special appearance thanks to Epitaph Records. It’s a fascinating video that takes you on adventures with the band everywhere. The song is catchy, and you will sing it yourself soon too! I was so excited when this song came out because I also enjoyed listening to the other two bands featured, and now they are touring with one of them. This is the first song from their debut album, Built To Last, which is out everywhere on May 26th; pre-order it here! They are very excited about their new album coming out. The band says they have been working on it since their previous album, Be More., came out in the Fall of 2021. They are so excited about everything coming their way after all their hard work. They have moved away from home and have been waiting for the right moment to release their first full-length record.
The song "Gives You Hell" by The All-American Rejects was playing during their sound check, and they already had the entire venue clapping and singing along. The lights went dark, and they came on stage to a relaxing melody. They wore all-white attire, which set them apart from the other bands. They talked about their upcoming album and said they were honored to participate in the tour. They thanked New Jersey and said, hopefully, they will see us again soon for a headline tour! After seeing them live for the first time, I can picture them headlining a tour later this year or next! I highly recommend catching them on this tour before it ends!
