Roy Blair Headlines First NYC Show in Six Years in Celebration of Chasing Moving Trains

For some artists, taking their time can be a worthy investment. For alternative artist Roy Blair, his first headline show in six years was most certainly worth the wait. Celebrating a year since the release of his latest album Chasing Moving Trains, Blair brought his intimate and exhilarating show to a sold out Bowery Ballroom.

The front to back performance of the album that was utterly captivating, hearing it live after an anticipated period of time made it resonate even more greatly. His stage presence was full of passion and joy, and the momentum was tremendously exciting to watch. It also helped that he was very personable and sincere throughout, and his backing band translated the album seamlessly. The connection between Blair and his audience felt very organic and long time fans were rewarded with both recent highlights and deep cuts such as “Fantazia” and “Lightleak” both of which sounded mesmerizing live and showcased his dynamic vocal range.

What stood out the most during the show was how grateful Blair was to be performing again, and the sold out audience truly felt like a community. Credit once again goes out to his band who truly were able to elevate the songs live, and Blair played off of them to satisfying effect. When staging a comeback show after an extended period of time, there admittedly can be a high level of expectation. Thankfully in this case, his return is a triumphant one with a set full of artistry and passion and delivered an immersive experience in the process.

While it remains to be seen whether Blair emerges on a full-fledged tour anytime soon, for anyone in attendance his Bowery Ballroom show is sure to be remembered as a defining moment. Be sure to give Chasing Moving Trains a listen, and it’s highly recommended to seek him out live if you ever get the opportunity!
