Sullivan King Delivers Dynamic Show With Music, Lasers, and Theatrics

Sullivan King brought his Thrones of Blood Tour to White Eagle Hall in Jersey City on April 27th. He is a unique artist you do not want to miss on tour! Sullivan King meshes being a DJ, playing guitar, and signing all together! He has such a unique sound you will not hear anywhere else. After watching Sullivan King perform, I can confidently say he has the most unique show I have ever seen!

Vastive opened up the set and got the crowd pumped up. Originally from the east coast, he plays dubstep that the crowd can feel the emotions of. He has vocals within his songs that make his sets unique. He’s an up-and-coming DJ that you definitely should check out!

Benda was up next, a Florida native DJ and producer. He’s appeared in many festivals and has no plans of slowing down. You could feel his energy throughout his set through his hands and how he waved them back and forth. Another thing that caught my eye was the custom graphics that read Benda behind him. No one who was there that night could forget his name.

Level Up, also known as Sonya Broner, was the last opener for Sullivan King, and I was pleasantly surprised by her set! It’s so cool to see a female DJ. Her graphics in the background were stunning, and I found myself watching them instead of her at some points. She started off as a battle DJ who turned to music production after dubstep. She even recently traveled to Cancun to perform at the Paradise Blue Festival!

Sullivan King took the stage next, and the crowd was completely freaking out! His stage was set up with two rectangular platforms on the left and right of the stage. I never saw anything like it! When he came out, he appeared on the left platform, and the crowd started screaming. Sullivan King said, “New Jersey, what is good!?” The crowd went even wilder. I love when artists acknowledge the state that they are in. It makes the entire concert feel more personalized.

Another unique part of his set is he had multiple lasers going at all times. He put them up high enough so the crowd wouldn’t accidentally stare at them. At one point, he stopped his set because a fan went on someone’s shoulders, and he was concerned for their safety. I think it’s essential for artists to stop their sets when there are safety concerns.

My favorite part of his set was in one song where he says lasers multiple times. Each time he said the word laser, another laser would turn on. It was like magic. He interacted with the crowd so much and could be seen holding their hands for a significant portion of his show. What sets Sullivan King apart is that he plays guitar and sings during his DJ set. At some points, he even threw his guitar to the other side of the stage for the crew to catch, and it looked very cool.

He had so many different aspects of his set to draw your attention. Not only did he use lasers, but the platforms and the massive screen behind him played different videos throughout the entire set. It was impossible not to be mesmerized by what was happening around you! His fans were so kind and could be seen picking each other up in the mosh pit if someone fell. Make sure to catch Sullivan King on the rest of his tour; you won’t regret it!
