Tennis Brings Farewell Tour to Captivating Pier 17 Show

Tennis have built a dedicated and loyal following in the 15 years they’ve been active and have consistently released music to considerable acclaim as well. The duo, consisting of married couple Alania Moore and Patrick Riley, have decided to end on their own terms and with the release of their final record Face Down in The Garden and have embarked on their farewell tour. Returning to NYC with a packed Pier 17 show, Tennis offered another reminder of why they’ve remained an enduring act with a setlist representing their discography to satisfying effect. Moore’s captivating and sincere presence was consistently engaging to watch, and the band’s on stage chemistry was delightfully seamless. Their set had some truly notable moments with highlights such as “Martimony”, “Ladies Don’t Play Guitar”, and “In The Morning I’ll be Better” along with more recent hits “Weight of Desire” and “I Can Only Describe You”. One of the satisfying aspects of the band’s live shows are their sense of intimacy and shared joy and their set here was a truly well rounded showcase of their genuine artistry.

What truly resonates the most about Tennis is how their music feels truly inclusive, and the pure amount of soul and honesty they’ve brought to their live shows over the years has truly left an impact. Another refreshing aspect is how despite it being their swan song, they sounded just as committed and vibrant as ever. When it comes to achieving a legacy as a band or artist, the question always comes to how will you be remembered. For Tennis, their final tour was a strong signifier of their pure artistry, and their shows were truly uniting and inclusive for all. Whether this is truly their final tour remains to be seen, but regardless this farewell tour sees them in remarkably fine form and comes highly recommended.
