Attila Brings “About That Life” Tour to NYC
ATTILA brought their About That Life 10th Anniversary Tour to the Gramercy Theatre in New York on September 12th. They brought an insanely talented group of special guests: Gideon, Ten56., and Until I Wake. It was so cool that all of the bands have released new music this year for their fans to sing along to.
Until I Wake was up first and even played their newest single, "Cold," which came out in July of this year. I saw them over the summer at Capulet Fest in Connecticut. Since then, I have listened to their music since I was blown away by their set. They are a hard rock band from Buffalo and have been together since 2020. They have a unique sound but can still be considered metalcore.
Ten56. hit the stage next and played songs off their album they released in April called Downer. The band impressed me during their set, and the frontman had a unique sound. He had technical issues during their set, but the band pushed through. The crowd was very patient with them and helped sing along loudly. The band’s name comes from the police code of 10-56, which means intoxicated pedestrian/suicide. They explained that it fits the theme of their music, which sounds like a mix of deathcore and metalcore.
Gideon was up next, and they also released an album a little earlier in March of this year called MORE POWER. MORE PAIN. They played songs off of it, and the crowd knew all the words. While I never saw Gideon live, I have heard their band name before. The lead singer came out in a cowboy hat, which was different for this genre of music. It intrigued me for their set and what I was about to experience. They brought southern style to metal hardcore music, which was unique. The band talks about staying positive even in hard times. This is a new chapter for the band to show everyone who Gideon is.
Finally, ATTILA came out, and the crowd went insane! They played almost every single song from their About That Life album. Their encore song was "Bite Your Tongue," a new single that came out earlier this year in April. Their new single pushed the band’s boundaries by adding clean vocals alongside Fronz’s screaming for the first time. I was so happy to hear them play that song because I had already learned all the words. While this was such an excellent and nostalgic tour, I can’t wait for another tour in the future with their new songs!
ATTILA frontman Chris Fronzak, better known as ‘Fronz,’ and Chris Linck on guitar, had great chemistry throughout the set. Kalan Adam put on a show while playing bass, and Tyler Kruckmeyer smashed it on the drums. Since ATTILA has been around for almost 20 years, they have significantly impacted the genre. Their hit song About That Life was released in 2013 and reached number 22 on the Billboard Top 200 charts. I still remember the first day I listened to that song, and I couldn’t get enough of it.
ATTILA is from Atlanta and is a very well-known metalcore band. This was the first time they played this album, so it was extraordinary. By the end, this world tour will go through 56 cities and 13 countries. ATTILA put on a show like you’ve never seen before! Fronz does a great job talking to the crowd throughout the show, and the band has such a high-energy live. ATTILA also released the song "Handshakes With Snakes" in February of this year. Their most recent song features Ekoh and is called Mia Goth, which came out in July. The tour continues until October 20th; get your tickets here and join the party!
