Escape the Fate Makes a Stop in NYC

Escape The Fate’s Out Of The Shadows Tour stopped in New York City at Webster Hall on September 8th. They brought a group of excellent openers for their tour: D.R.U.G.S., Point North, Stitched Up Heart, and GARZI. This tour was to celebrate their new album, Out Of The Shadows which came out on September 1st.

GARZI hit the stage first and did a beautiful job of mixing together hip-hop with rock. He has a unique sound and classifies it as alternative 80’s. Garzi performed as a three-piece and did a great job opening the show. The lead singer constantly interacted with the crowd by pointing to them and involving them in their set.

Point North is a band I was looking forward to seeing live for the first time. I’ve been listening to their music and anticipating the moment. The drummer was energetic and caught my attention, even from the back of the stage. The lead singer had a fabulous stage presence and even played guitar at one point.

Stitched Up Heart blew me away by how they commanded the stage during their set. The lead singer was very expressive while singing. Her hands constantly moved while she was singing, and she even got on her knees to sing at one point, reaching up to the sky. The drummer was aggressively banging on the drums, which made him very entertaining. The guitarist had neon green hair, which also made him stand out.

D.R.U.G.S. is a band I looked forward to seeing for the first time. While I am unfamiliar with D.R.U.G.S.’s music, I am familiar with Craig Owens from his former band, Chiodos. The band did a fantastic job, but he took the crowd's attention and is a great frontman. His facial expressions while singing were very unique.

Escape The Fate easily had the best set of the night! The fans were immersed in the music and created a vast mosh pit to celebrate. All band members contributed equally to walking around the stage and getting the crowd’s attention. At one point, the lead singer laid down before the photographers and posed so we could get some good shots of him. Escape The Fate’s songs are very catchy, and it was apparent I’m not the only one who felt that way. As I walked through the crowd, I saw fans screaming all of their lyrics. Whether moshing, walking around, or standing still, everyone participated in their own way.

The band has been together for almost 20 years, and while they have had some band member changes, that didn’t stop the message they are trying to send to their fans through their music. You could tell the pure love and adoration they had for their fans while they were playing on stage. The fans reciprocated that love back by screaming their lyrics to them. The band members stuck their tongues out, held guitars up, and put on a great display of rock and roll. This tour had a variety of different openers, which made it very unique. They had something for everyone, no matter what your music preference is. The band recently signed to Big Noise, a fascinating new chapter for them. Their tour continues until the beginning of October; get a ticket here before it’s too late!
