Larkin Poe Wrap Up Their Spring Tour in Asbury Park As Part of North to Shore Festival

If you were looking for a good old rock and roll show with the amps turned up to 11, then Asbury Lanes was the place to be this past Sunday. The Prudential North to Shore Festival delivered another stellar show with Larkin Poe bringing their spring tour to Asbury Park. They were also joined by guitarist extraordinaire Zach Person, and boy did it get loud at the Lanes.

Larkin Poe are the Grammy-winning sister act of Rebecca and Megan Lovell. Their style is “roots rock 'n' roll”—gritty, soulful, and flavored by their southern heritage. Their performance on this night was electrifying. This was the last stop of their spring U.S./Canada tour in support of their new album Bloom, and the set included a number of tracks from it including “Nowhere Fast”, “Bluephoria”, “If God Was a Woman”, and “Bloom Again”. They even unplugged for a quartet of songs featuring a cover of “Country Boy”, before roaring back with my personal favorite “Deep Stays Down”. If you didn’t get a chance to see the Lovell sisters this time round, its going to be a bit of a wait for their next Stateside show since Rebecca is taking time away to have a baby before they head overseas in the fall.

And if Larkin Poe wasn’t enough to make this a great show, we had the added bonus of Zach Person kicking things off. Known for his masterful guitar playing and soulful vocals, he definitely did not disappoint. If you closed your eyes, you could hear Jimi mixed with a bit of Gary Clark Jr. I dare say his performance was incendiary. Person’s set included tracks from his 2024 album Let’s Get Loud, plus an awesome cover of “All Along the Watchtower”.

You definitely want to see these talented acts if they come to a venue near you. Until then, be sure to check out all their great work wherever you stream your music.
