nothing, nowhere. Fills the Void in NYC
Nothing, nowhere. stopped at The Gramercy Theatre in New York City on September 6th as part of The Void Eternal Tour. He was joined by openers SeeYouSpaceCowboy, Static Dress, and UNITYTX. This tour was fascinating when it was announced because two of the opening bands are featured on two songs from his new album Void Eternal. He said this would be his last tour for a while, so I knew I had to make it out. Even though it was scorching outside, fans still packed inside the Gramercy Theatre. I was very impressed by the venue since this was my first time there. The staff was very friendly, the lighting was good, and there was even theatre seating for fans if they were tired of standing.
The first opener to come on stage was UNITYTX. It was my first time hearing UNITYTX, and I was very impressed. They released their new album this past weekend called FERALITY with Pure Noise Records. In 2019, they put out an EP, but COVID hit, and they felt like they had to start over. Their vocalist did an excellent job as a frontman and jumped up and down all over the stage. All the members had great energy and could be seen spinning around or kicking up high. They are similar to nothing, nowhere. because they have a great mix of rap and metalcore.
Static Dress came up next and traveled all the way from Leeds, England, for this awe-inspiring tour. Their guitarist instantly stood out to me because he wore a mask covering his entire face. The band engaged with their fans and had an attractive backdrop. It was my first time seeing a backdrop without the band’s name. Instead, they went with a green and white striped backdrop. This was accompanied by two unique small tube TVs that grabbed the crowd's attention. It was apparent why their name wasn’t behind them; they didn’t need it. The crowd knew who they were and resonated with their music.
The third band up was SeeYouSpaceCowboy, which made it my second time seeing them live. After their fantastic show, the last time I saw them open up for Silverstein, I was very excited about their set. They left a perfect impression on me the last time I saw them. The fans were very into their music and could be seen moshing throughout it. At some points, they were two-stepping and crowd-surfing as well. Their vocalist Connie even went to the barricade to get closer to the fans and sing. They even have a single, Rhythm and Rapture which features nothing, nowhere. SeeYouSpaceCowboy is also featured on nothing, nowhere.’s new album Void Eternal in his song PSYCHO_PSYCHIATRY. This song does a beautiful job of mixing a dancing tune with post-hardcore-sounding music. The song delivers and is fun to dance to which the fans proved in the pit.
Fans patiently waited for the headliner nothing, nowhere. to come on stage, and they were not disappointed. Nothing, nowhere. is the music project of Joseph Mulherin. He is one of my favorite artists, and even I couldn’t help but sing along while taking photos. It was nice to relate with him through his lyrics and music. I love the cross between rap and rock that he can pull off in a way I haven’t seen anyone else do before. He invited many guest vocalists from the tour on stage with him to sing multiple songs. I really appreciated this since I enjoyed all of the features on his album.
This was nothing, nowhere.’s the heaviest album that we have seen, and it’s clear that he took all the emotions he was feeling and poured them into every track. While watching him sing them, it was very apparent that he left it all on the stage. These songs each tell their own story, which is always enjoyable as a fan. He had a lot of guest features on the album, most of which I recognized, and I quickly started listening to those I didn't. During the show, he played many songs from his newest Void Eternal album, but he also played old ones. He even played a Linkin Park cover as well. After not going to a concert for a month, this was a perfect one to go to. I am so happy that I went and highly recommend seeing nothing, nowhere. live on his tour. As he said, he will not be touring again for a while, so who knows when the next time he will tour is. Get tickets here; the tour ends on October 12th, so don’t wait!
