Spike and The Gimme Gimmes Brings a Wet, Hot American Summer to Philly

Spike and The Gimme Gimmes, formerly known as Me First and The Gimme Gimmes, brought their Wet, Hot American Summer Tour to The Theater of the Living Arts in Philadelphia this past Friday, joined by The Schizophonics and Kate Clover.

Opening the night was Kate Clover, delivering a fantastic 30 minute set that got the crowd perfectly warmed up. They absolutely rocked and made a new fan out of me. Next up were The Schizophonics, and they were nothing short of electric. Their live show is wild, chaotic, and something you truly have to witness yourself. Pat Beers went above and beyond, even jumping into the crowd mid-song to keep the energy sky high.

Closing out the night to a packed venue were Spike and The Gimme Gimmes, kicking things off with their punk rock. cover of “Jolene” that sent the crowd into a frenzy. As they proudly proclaim, they are “Thee” cover band, taking your favorite classics and turning them into punk rock perfection. Their setlist included hits like “Country Roads,” “Love Will Keep Us Together,” and “Changes.” Now in their 30th year, The Gimmes continue to rotate members while delivering the same top-tier performance every time with no signs of slowing down.

The Wet, Hot American Summer Tour runs through August 24th. If you get a chance to catch this lineup, it’s absolutely worth it.
