BANG! AJR Bring Heart, Humor, and High-Tech Spectacle to Camden on the “Somewhere in the Sky” Tour
AJR's "Somewhere in the Sky" tour landed in Camden at Freedom Mortgage Pavilion last week with a BANG—literally and figuratively. The NYC-born trio of brothers, Adam, Jack, and Ryan Met, delivered a set that blurred the line between concert, theater, and interactive art installation, proving once again why they’ve carved out such a unique lane in modern pop.
The 18-song setlist was a rollercoaster of emotion and invention, opening with “Way Less Sad” and flowing seamlessly into hits like “100 Bad Days,” “Sober Up,” and “Bang!”, each paired with eye-popping visuals and clever narrative segues. AJR's signature blend of orchestral pop, looping samples, and self-aware humor was on full display.
Midway through the show, Jack Met confronted a quirky phobia, his fear of pigeons, when a fan showed up in full bird costume. What began as a comical standoff ended with Jack climbing down from the stage to give the fan a hug, earning one of the night’s biggest laughs. Minutes later, the brothers welcomed a gregarious fan named Yali to the stage after he asked to sing “Betty,” a song already played earlier in the set. AJR good-naturedly let him belt out a passionate karaoke-style version, followed by a surprise second tune. The moment, much like the show itself, struck a balance between spontaneity and warmth.
Later, the band pulled off a heartfelt surprise, leaving the stage to perform in the crowd during Ryan’s acoustic solo “Inertia,” then reuniting in the seated section for intimate versions of “World’s Smallest Violin” and “Wow, I’m Not Crazy.” It was a rare arena moment that felt truly personal.
With dynamic openers and immersive visuals, AJR didn’t just play Camden, they connected with it. And the crowd was with them 100 percent…and so was I.
