The Dollyrots - Expect the Unexpected

I've enjoyed the Dollyrots’ music for a while, but I haven't had a chance to photograph them until now. When I found out they were playing at The Anchor Rock Club in Atlantic City, I knew I had to go. They did not disappoint. This was classic garage rock at its best - guitar, drums, and bass. While their recorded sound is much slicker, nothing beats the raw power live on stage.

The Dollyrots kept the crowd swaying and bouncing throughout the set. But the real highlight was the Dollyrots’ two children (son River and daughter Daisy) hopping on stage. The younger daughter played some drums while the older one did fantastic yo-yo tricks.

If you've been wanting to take your family to see a show and get them interested in rock and roll, take them to a Dollyrots concert. No sex, drugs, and rock and roll, but you'll find fun, sing-along rock and roll. And that is cool with me.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Born from an existential argument between Modernists and Postmodernists, I have found my home with the post-punks and those who love a good slice of pizza. I live in a world of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction and the ever-elusive Decisive Moment. Punctum and Studium aside, I like to take photographs of people and things to see how they look photographed. While I miss both CBGBs and a cool place to bowl in Asbury Park, Punk is still whatever we made it to be. The Future is Unwritten, and I owe it all to Mr. Bradley and Mr. Martin. Let Us Now Praise Famous Men (and Women) and ask the Little Prince for his thoughts. Sometimes, I'm On the Road, but if it weren’t for the honor of the thing, I’d just as well walk. My loving wife supports this albatross of an obsession, and my kids put up with me well. BA, MFA, M.Ed., BCEA, Nikon, FUJI, Tri-X.
