Capulet Fest Sparkles During Fourth of July Weekend
Capulet Fest, presented by Capulet Entertainment, hosted its second year on Saturday, July 1, and Sunday, July 2. This year it was held at Thompson Speedway in Connecticut which was a superb location. The staff there was accommodating and very friendly. As soon as I walked out of my car, I could tell that Capulet Festival had many features that set it apart from other festivals. I was able to park in VIP parking which was extremely close to the festival and was very convenient.
The festival had two stages the Capulet Stage, which was the main stage outside, and the Montague Stage, which was inside. I have been to a lot of festivals, and something I admire most about this festival is the proximity of the stages being so close to each other as well as the staggered set times.
The way that the schedule is allowed fans to easily see every band throughout the day instead of having to make those tough decisions between two bands playing at the same time. While some bands needed to overlap briefly, there was still a significant amount of time to view each band.
The main stage was outdoors on the blacktop, which was great. Some fans brought lawn chairs to sit on, and others in the back even sat on the ground to listen to the music. The viewing area for the stage was huge. The indoor stage was in a massive garage with high ceilings, which made for a fantastic escape from the outdoor heat. The garage doors even opened, which made it feel even larger.
Day 1 was filled with sunshine and a lot of smiles and laughter. While it was hot out, that didn’t stop fans from having a fantastic time! There were charging stations and water refill stations as well. Vendors lined up in the lot to sell band merch and other extraordinary items for fans. Day 2 had some rainy weather come through the area, but that didn’t stop fans from lining up at the barricades to watch their favorite bands. For this day, vendors set up inside the garage by the Montague stage, which was great for escaping the rain.
The lineup for Day 1 was: Nowhere Left, Dead By Wednesday, Nerv, Awake At Last, Set For The Fall, Magnets For Maniacs, Spoken, VRSTY, Saul, Versus Me, For The Fallen Dreams, Outline In Color, Secrets, Catch Your Breath, A Skylit Drive, Famous Last Words, Crown The Empire, Until I Wake. They also had the highly anticipated bands Norma Jean and Memphis May Fire. Capulet Fest even made a last-minute surprise announcement and added Crown The Empire to the Day 1 schedule! That shows you should always buy the tickets you never know what could happen.
Another thing that sets this festival apart is the fireworks! This is unique to the festival since it was on Fourth of July weekend. The staggered schedule allowed everyone to take a break and watch the beautiful fireworks in the sky between sets.

Capulet Fest offered a discounted rate of $100 off each night, which is where I stayed. The Comfort Inn hotel offered complimentary breakfast and was a quick 15-minute drive to the festival; I highly recommend it! If you prefer to camp in an RV, they also have campgrounds close to the stage and festival grounds. Since the bands didn’t start until 12pm, it allowed fans, especially those who traveled time to sleep in! The last bands ended around 10:30, which gave everyone time to go back and get some sleep before the next day.
This was my first time at this festival, and I had such a fantastic experience. Thank you to Capulet Entertainment and all of the staff at Thompson Speedway who worked so hard to make it happen.
