Pierce the Veil Shines Despite Rain at Stone Pony

Pierce The Veil and The Used co-headlined The Creative Control tour and stopped at The Stone Pony Summer Stage on Monday, June 12th. They brought along Don Broco as support to open up for the night. This was a highly anticipated tour, with both headlining bands putting out new albums over the past few months. Even though it was a Monday and the forecast showed a big storm, that didn’t stop fans from lining up around the building.

I have been to the Stone Pony for many shows, and this was the longest line I have seen. While the sets were cut short, all the bands still put on a great show. The staff was great and made the best of the situation. They did an excellent job of reassuring fans of the emergency evacuation protocols but also reassured everyone that the show would go on.

Don Broco took the stage first, and it was my first time hearing their music or seeing them live. They came all the way from the UK to play on the tour. I was very impressed! The band’s lead singer Rob made jokes about the tv show Jersey Shore. They said it’s their favorite place in America, and they love fist-bumping. They even dedicated one of their songs to Pauly D. It was pretty cool that they connected to our state.

The Used hit the stage and had an elaborate stage setup that I heard many fans comment on. They had pink flowers all over their microphone stands and behind them, which tied in with the theme of their new album. They recently released their new album called Toxic Positivity, which has been a massive hit among fans. While we all will always have our favorite songs by The Used from their self-titled album back in 2002, this new album was a reminder that The Used is here to stay. They played a few of those older songs, including "The Taste Of Ink," which has over 117 million plays on Spotify.

Pierce The Veil was the most anticipated band of the night. The band recently released a new album, The Jaws Of Life, and it has been a big hit. They ended with "King For A Day," a fan favorite with over 300 million plays on Spotify. Their merch line went out the venue doors, so get there early if you want some!

The band put on a fantastic set, and it was easy to see how the crowd reacted to it throughout. The lead singer Vic apologized about the weather and said he loved Jersey. The Stony Pony is where it all started, and they said it felt like coming home. The fans understood why they had to cut the set short and knew it was out of the band’s hands. Vic said they wished they didn’t have to cut the set short but would see us next time.

Overall, while the rain caused a lot of issues, it made for an incredible night in the rain. The bands embraced it, and so did the fans. We will likely see Pierce The Veil again soon since they do a great job returning to Jersey for shows. At the end of their set, the guitarist even entered the crowd to hold their hands and talk briefly. I heard from fans that this moment made the entire night in the rain worth it. Check out the rest of their tour dates; this is a tour you don’t want to miss!
